How To Draw A Realistic Eye With Pencil

Eyes are the most beautiful part of the human body and also not easy to draw. in this article I will going to show how to draw a realistic eye with pencil step by  step easily. So here are some tools you need before start

Tools you need

• paper
• pencil
• kneadable eraser
• Flat surface to draw
• blending stumps

So now we can start our drawing

How to draw a realistic eye with pencil

Step 1 – Draw the outline for the eye drawing

First of allyou have to draw the outline for the eye. use a very light pencil to draw it because it is very easy to erase  and a dark  pencil can create a rough line line which is not very easy to erase.  You can draw a basic almond shape for eye drawing step by step.

Step 2 – Draw the inner circle of the eye

Draw the inner circle of the eye and draw it with a light pencil

Step 3- draw the pupil

draw the pupil and remember that it is in the centre of the circle you have drawn in the previous step.

Step 4- Draw the iris of the eye

draw the iris of the eye. Draw it with a light pencil because we have to erase all the line when we shade the skin. So use a light pencil.

Step 5 – Shade the pupil

Fill the pupil with the dark pencil. Use 8b or 10b or you can use on basis of pencil you have but use a dark one because it gives eye a realistic look. Do not use too much pressure on pencil because it very hard to erase further later.

Step 6- Dark the outer area of the iris

Dark the outer area of the iris. this is how I draw my drawing but you can first shade the iris and then dark the outer area. It totally depends upon you.

Step 7- Shade the iris

 

Now shade the whole iris according to the refference image you are using. I am shading the upper area with a dark pencil and leaving the area of reflection in the eye according to the refference. Use light and dark pencil according to your need. If you don’t know how to shade an iris then tell me in the comment section below I will make a separate tutorial on it.

How to draw a realistic eye with pencil

Step 8- Add highlight to the iris

It’s time add highlight to the iris. Use a mono eraser to add highlight to your drawing as shown in the image below.

Draw very thin white line with zero mono eraser with help of your refference image. try to make it more natural.

Step 9- Add more detail

Now use a very sharp pencil to add more detail in iris

Step 10-Shade the white portion

Now the iris is completed. You can start work on the other parts. There is white portion in the eye, it is not actually white. You have to shade it to look more natual. Start with a light pencil.

Then use a darker one.

Step 11- Draw the upper eyelid

Draw the upper eyelid from the refference.

Step 12-shade the skin

Shade the skin around the eye. Use the blending stumps to very easily. Blending stumps are the greatest tool to blend very well. But if you do not have blending stumps then there are another great tools for blending then read my article Five Tools I Used for Blending

Step 13- Make skin texture look more natural

Now if you want to make eye looks more realistic then you have to realistic skin texture by this way.

Use mono zero eraser to add highlight to the skin. Draw very thin random lines to make real skin texture.

Now I am going to draw a tear in my realistic eye drawing because it is in my refference.

 

Step 14- Draw the eyelashes

Now draw the upper eyeslashes.Start with a light pencil because if you make any mistake it is very easy to cover but if you use a darker one it is very hard to erase, so start with a light pencil. Use curved lines to draw eyelshes donot use straight stroke because it gives a very fake look.

Step 15- Dark the upper eyelashes

 

Step 16- Draw the lower eyelashes

Now draw the lower eyelashes. Use light and dark pencil according to the need.

Step 11- Give some final touchups

Give some final touchups to your pencil eye drawing.
