Cat is a very cute animal and everybody loves cat. We can see this animal everywhere. The are different varieties of cat. Today I will show you how to draw a cat for kids. So without further delay lets get started. hi everybody my name is Ravi Gundal and you are reading this article on The Ravi arts.
This is a step by step method, you can follow this to make a cute cat drawing easy.
Before starting the tutorial, there are some tool you need to make your drawing and these tools are
- Drawing Paper
- HB Pencil
- Eraser
- Flat Surface to draw
- Blending tools
Here are some tips for you before you start your drawing
- You can use a paint brush, makeup brush or a tissue paper as a blending tool
- Make sure all the pencil you are usingin your drawing are sharp
- Don’t put too much pressure on the pencil. Use pencil very lightly
- Use a high quality refference image for your drawing
after having all these tools you can start your drawing.
How to draw a cat for step by step
Step 1 : Draw an oval shape
Draw an oval shape for the head. Draw it very lightly.
Step 2 : Draw two intersecting line
Draw two intersecting lines in the head shape which are perpendicular to eachother. These are the guideline for the eyes, nose and mouth
Step 3 : Draw the shape for the ear and eyes
Draw two small circle on the horizontal line for the horizontal line for the eyes. Draw two triangular shape for the the ear.
Make both ear of the equal size try to place them on the right place. You can use the image below for the ear refference.
Step 4 : Draw the shape of the nose
On the vertical line, draw the shape for the nose just below the vertical line as shown in the figure below.
Step 5 : Draw the mouth shape and whiskers
Now draw the shape of the mouth and whiskers. Use a dark pencil to make eyes more dark.
Now the face shape of the cat is ready. You can draw a cat simply by this method. But if you want to make it more realistic then there are the following steps.
Step 6 : Start with the eyes
Now grab a dark pencil and start work on eyes. Use a 3b pencil to darken the eyes and blend with blending tool.
Step 7 : Draw the nose
Use a dark pencil to shade the nose and use a blending tool to blend.
Step 8 : Start the shading
Now take a light pencil start the shading of the face. Use very light pressure on pencil.
Step 9 : Add more layer
Add more layer of shading. Now grab a darker pencil and highlight to the face
Step 10 : Draw whiskers
Now it’s time to draw whiskers. I am using here a mono zero eraser to draw whiskers.
Step 11 : Draw fur
After drawing whiskers, it’s time to draw fur. To draw realistic fur,you have to use a pencil and a mono zero eraser. You have to make small dots using pencil and mono eraser to draw realistic fur. You can use a refference for your help.
Step 12 : Final touchups
Grab a dark pencil and draw some hair on the ears. Use mono eraser to add more highlights into drawing and your drawing is ready.
